call me vain, but i really miss my long hair.
i miss my freedom
i miss clowning around with my friends as we move along the corridors in school, oblivious to stares of disapproval, wrapped up in our very own kind of humour

weight
standing with a rifle slung across my chest
it's the weight, that bothers me.
no longer is it a weapon, but a weight
two magazines of ammunition
each round capable of dealing death,
more weight. nothing but weight.
batteries in my torch
energy for light
heavy, d-cell batteries.
weight.
water in my bottles,
weight.
bayonet on the webbing
edges dulled, useless
weight.
goretex jacket in the back pouch
protection against rain
weight.
a cushion against the wall
still, weight.
i shift the rifle sling on my shoulder
five more hours to go.

bugs
as night falls a certain bug emerges,
(among many others, of course)
its species unknown, at least to me
resembling a giant overweight ant
encased in the armour of a stag beetle
a pair of translucent wings the size of its body
granting it the gift of flight, albeit .. imperfect
taking off seems to be a problem
it slices laterally into the air,
only to land a foot away
finally airborne
it flies hapzardly, drawn to bright lights
for warmth or out of a fear of darkness
definately not the latter.
dawn breaks and the lazy sun rises
the bugs shed their wings and disappear
do they die or do they hide
a million wings lie shimmering
the ants awake
(do they sleep)
to food
(the ants eat almost anything)
as they valiantly haul wings
many, many times their size
i think of the hebrews
and God's gift of manna
(among many others, of course)

Star Wars: Welcome to the Official Site
Star Wars: Welcome to the Official Site
Of course, I caught the movie. =)
I absolutely loved it, not sure why people have problems with the acting, script, effects(?!), but I loved every single part of the show. I feel that the acting was fine, really, especially Anakin's, not that bad, what.
I have the OST, downloaded of course, and the special edition of Episode IV : A New Hope. ALL HAIL BIT TORRENT

Check out The Dark Tower by Stephen King. It's a 7 book series that begins with the line, which I think I know by hard ..
the man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed
I just finished Book 7 last night. Breath taking.
