Maximum Chill..

It was close to midnight on lunar new year's eve and our 4 heroes were mass-chatting on msn, an upgrade to starting a new channel and setting +i in the old IRC days. The topic of discussion? Drinking venue. We wanted to go to The Labyrinth as usual, but the public ktv was quite a turn off, so we considered Highlander instead. Daryl, our resident slouch complained that it was too far and suggested brewerkz, which, er, is practically across the river from highlander.

Anyway, we ended up in midsummer night breeze, a relatively new chill out cafe in Pasir Ris park where smokers are treated with reverence and given an entire pavilion complete with Balinese decor and wooden sofas while non smokers are relegated to ordinary metal tables and coffee-bean style rattan chairs. Hoegaarden was going on tap at $11 per pint with 1% cess being the only taxation. The staff were friendly and although they ran out of nuts, they gave us, er, fried ikan bili s to placate our rumbling tummies.

What followed was a night of bridge, booze, fags, and bending over in laughter upon hearing snippets of conversation from the bisexual drunk and his "non-conformist" friends at the next table. In geek-speak, this is a "Web 2.0" pub, where entertainment is provided by the other patrons, not the establishment =)
