Just an answer to your question: Romans 6
When Paul wrote this letter to the Corinthians, there were trends of spiritual ills spilling out of the church that he built - a church which was loomed "least likely to be converted".
I think it's *probably* more appropriate to appreciate this letter with consideration to Paul's exasperations he experienced.
Yeah, the tone was harsh. But like Paul mentioned, "I am not writing this to shame you, but to warn you, as my dear children." (1 Cor 4:14). Akin to our parents nagging. :p
As for drinking, perhaps the more practical advice will be. Drink and merry for all you want, just take caution about getting drunk. Reasonable? I think so. :)
yeah but some things he said are quite explicit. you guys gave the right answers though, at least the best there can be.
